| Copper Thieves: and the importance of being Thankful Welcome back, Readers, for the December 2007 issue of Orion's Child. This month has been trying in many respects but none the least of which is the detriment caused by the local Copper Thieves. Yes. I did write Copper Thieves. Those zany, zany, cyprian bandits. So how have they affected Orion's Child. Glad you asked. Simply speaking, copper thieves in the local community stole (read, cut and took) a 25 foot section of the local fibre-cable line. Dastardly though this deed was, the local cable company had service restored in nearly no time. Well, almost. As it turned out, we had our television back, and we had our Internet back, except that the Internet service is spotty right now and the TV keeps freezing up like a dirty DVD. And for two weeks nobody in the local community could UP-load anything. Nothing. No You-tube videos, no Myspace Pictures, and No Orion's Child Magazine. You see my point? So while we are very grateful to Mark McCormick for his contributions (and for pointing out a copyright grey area that needed fixed), and to the incomparable Ariana for all of her hard work (the new OC logo backgrounds and title lettering are hers), we aren't very grateful for the delay cause by the local copper thieves. Bad Form, Sirs. So, to the readers, Merry Christmas, Happy Yule, Jolly (?) Kwanza, Bright Midwinter, Happy Hanukah, and a thousand apologizes to those whose celebrations I might have missed in my brief list here. |
