I always loved to draw and be creative, even though I'm not very good at hand drawn art. I do a mean stick figure, but not much else. When I was in my early 20s, I ran a little group that went to a different member's home every week and did crafts together. I also used to help friends with a flower business do flowers for weddings. I even loaned myself out to plan and run bridal showers for a while. While running a Beatles group on MSN, I discovered sig tags, and that started my interest in computer generated graphics. I did the doll maker thing and eventually got myself a copy of Paint Shop Pro 7 to create my own images in. I still use version 7. If it ain't broke - don't fix it.
About 3 years ago, I discovered Poser. I bought myself a used copy off of eBay, because it's a really expensive program, and I didn't want to shell out all that money for something I didn't know if I could use or not. As it turns out - I couldn't. I just could not get the hang of it. Then I discovered Daz Studio. Not only is it free - but for me - it was much easier to use.
For about a year and half, I have been creating images and then, in turn, creating products on Zazzle.com. I also use images from royalty free sites that I have memberships with, but most of my main gallery, www.zazzle.com/krwdesigns, is comprised of my own original artwork. I really love to create artwork with my computer. It's wonderful for those of us with a desire for creative outlets and not a lot of talent with traditional drawing methods. I am always learning something new and trying different looks and effects. It can be frustrating at times, but I love it even then.
Also, having my art available on items for sale is very satisfying. I love the idea that there are people I will never meet all over the world wearing shirts with my designs, having magnets on their refrigerators with one of my faeries, or using a mouse pad with one of my fantasy scenes day after day. In addition to my galleries at Zazzle, I also have a website, www.krwgraphics.com where I offer some of my images for others to use, royalty free. There is a section for members only, cds for sale, linkware web sets and even 3 pages of free images. Some people think it's crazy to offer some of my images for free, but I'm glad to do it. I love to see what people make from them and it's good to know I am helping people nourish their own creative outlets. The online artistic community, especially at Zazzle, help me and inspire me in my own artistic endeavors. It's only right for me to want to give back. I hope the readers of Orion's Child will like my piece, "Behold". I worked a long time on this piece. The lighting was very tough for me. But I loved the idea of a woman holding a tiny faerie in her hands, staring in awe at this little piece of magic. Wouldn't it be nice if we could all find little bits of magic to illuminate us?
